Sonia studied a degree in Acting at Newcastle Colleges’ Performance Academy; she started acting at an early age in stage school. She has taken part in workshops with the RSC and Robert le Paige and is writing her own play which has been ongoing for the last 2 years which is about the life story of the Egyptian Queen ‘Nefertiti’ which she hopes will also be a screenplay.

Theatre Sonia has been involved in theatre since the age of 6. She performed in many musicals growing up including A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, South Pacific & Peter Pan. She also took part in numerous professional pantomines, the last one she played principal boy Robin Hood in Babes in the Wood at the Customs House. TV/Film
Sonia was the lead actress in a mini cooper commercial for Lloyds Mini in Carlisle; the clip is in the media section on this site and was shown on ITV for 2 months. She appeared in Wire in Blood, the award winning drama on ITV, with Robson Green and Simone Lahbib. She appeared as a policewoman in episode one which was broadcast in September 2008. Sonia played the part in a short local film called Young, Used and Famous; her character is a TV Presenter! Sonia hopes she has time in the near future to do some more real TV presenting. Sonia played the lead role in the short film ‘Stolen Moments’ where she also wrote the soundtrack. She was a correspondent for Channel 5 news outside of Durham cathedral for a special documentary about Education. 2006 started off with a revisit of the ‘Diet Doctors’ on Channel 5 where Sonia was a human Lab Rat! She was used because her body was physically fit enough to do a diet challenge, she had to eat 3 litres of ice cream every day for 3 weeks to show the effects on her body, which naturally weren’t good!

Sonia took part in the Bull Run in 2005 and co-presented on the program ‘Cops, Cars & Superstars’ which was filmed in the USA and broadcast on Bravo TV, “This was one of the most excited and exhilarating experiences’ of my life, I had to drive fast cars and motorbikes around the west coast of America and party with A-list celebrities, it was a great adventure”. She also presented on the red carpet at the premier of the movie ‘Six Bend Trap’ for ‘Ironopolis Films’. She founded Damson Productions in 2005, which lead to setting up the Miss Newcastle Organisation. The contest was an annual event that crowned the winning girl to compete in the Miss England Final with a chance to go to Miss World. She presented the show with her brother Adam Strong who is singer and actor who specialises in Musical Theatre. Sonia also hosted the show, ‘The Distance We have Come.. The Music of Scott Alan’, earlier this year at the New Players Theatre in London. The show was organised by Damson Productions and featured some of the best talent in the Musical Theatre industry including Miss Gina Beck who is the current ‘Christine’ in the west-ends ‘Phantom of the Opera’. Sonia’s’ main goal as an professional actor is to do action films so that she can combine her dance/gymnast ability with her acting skills, she especially wants to do all of her own stunts!!
