Sonia Strong is an Artist, Writer, Composer & Stage Director. She trained as a dancer for many years and qualified to teach all aspects of Dance in 2001. She began teaching dance in colleges whilst studying a degree in Acting at Newcastle Performing Arts Academy.
Sonia worked as an Actor & TV Presenter for several years in her 20s, her most memorable contract was working for Bravo TV in association with NBC On ‘The Bull Run’, which aired as a 6-week program called ‘Cops, Cars & Superstars’. As Sonia holds a driving and motorbike license she was hired as a racer/rider and co-presenter on a rally that stopped at many locations around the west coast of America, a Hollywood to Hollywood rally via Aspen, Colorado.
Sonia worked as resident DJ at London’s Planet Hollywood, it was this period where she began to give more time and attention to writing and co-producing her debut solo album ‘Sonogram’ which was released worldwide in May 2013. She published a remastered version of the album in 2024. In December 2023 she published her second album 'Chakra Cinema', which is an inspirational spiritual instrumental album that dedicates a track to each of our physical chakras. Sonia is in the process of producing her 2nd vocal album which is called ‘Ultrasound’.
Sonia published her 3rd album early 2025, which is relaxing music in 432Hz, the album is called ‘Soul Survival’. She also published a single in the summer of 2025 called, ‘Love is the sweetest Curse’, her next single called ‘Zero Shame’ published autumn 2025. Early 2026 she published another single called ‘With Love’. Sonia released ‘Sonogram - The Remixes’ late 2025, which is a 5 track EP of bonus tracks and remixes including the track ‘Midnight Love Story’, where she features the vocals of Rebekah Shearer.
Sonia has been working on a series of albums which are downtempo instrumental chillout albums called ‘A Certain Kind of Chill’, volume 1 published in January 2026. Volume 2 published in March 2026, Volume 3 in May 2026, Volume 4 in June 2026 and Volume 5 in July 2026. Sonia also created ‘A Certain Kind of Chill - Sleep & Spa Edition’ which published in April 2026.
Sonia’s latest release is an 18 track album called ‘Pulse of Ibiza - laid back Balearic grooves’ which published in June 2026. She is currently working on ‘Pulse of Dubai - laid back emirates grooves’.
Sonia Co-founded Arabesque Restaurant in 2013 with her family, the North East’s first Egyptian Restaurant, which they ran for 6 years.
Sonia was the first Miss Newcastle in 2004 and then founded the Miss Newcastle Organisation on behalf of Miss England & Miss World. She ran it successfully for 3 years before handing it over to her first modelling agent Tyne Tees Models. She co-hosted the show with her actor brother Adam Strong. She competed in Miss England 3 times and won various other titles such as Miss Water in Miss Earth, and Miss Inner Beauty in Miss Commonwealth.
Sonia assisted in introducing the music of Broadway composer and songwriter Scott Alan into London’s west end with Adam. She worked with a North East Production company for 2 years as their Artistic Director, creating short films, promo reels for Actors, singers & voice over artists. She has done many of her own voice over’s for adverts such as Marks & Spencer, Options Chocolate & the Metro Centre shopping park. Sonia enjoys creating films to accompany stage productions to encompass a full multimedia experience for the audience.
She is in the process of writing her own original musical called ‘Ancient Dreams’ based on the life of the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, which will go into workshop very soon.
Within the house of Damson Productions, show pre-production takes place, writing, composing, storyboarding and music production.
Sonia Directed ‘The World of Musicals’ for the 2014 China tour and as Screen designer & Stage Director on the 2015 & 2016 German tour, along with compiling and Directing ‘a Christmas musical’ that also toured Europe in December 2015.
Sonia worked as Writer & Stage Director on Tina the Rock Legend 2015, 2016 & 2017 on behalf of Reset Productions & GFD Promotions on Break Every Rule - Tina the Rock Legend. The first ever musical based on the life of Tina Turner. She directed the making of the DVD In 2017.
Sonia is a keen artist, mainly specialising in landscapes using Oil paint. Her work was featured in an Art Exhibition at the Arts Centre, Washington in 2024. She sells her work on Etsy.
Sonia has written and published 4 self help books, ‘Boundaries Matter - Overcoming Narcissistic Manipulation’, ‘Breaking Free - A guide to breaking unhealthy habits & Addictions, ‘Healing Harmonies - Music Therapy for Trauma Recovery’, and ‘Sweet Dreams - A comprehensive guide to Sleep Hygiene for PTSD sufferers, Parents & Business Owners’.
She published her first poetry book in the summer of 2026, it’s called ‘Fragments of Life - 100 Poems’. All Books can be found on Amazon as a paperback or kindle version.
